Description
The vivid almost iridescent flowers of the Virginia Bluebells (Mertensia virginica). These delicate flowers with a nearly irridescent blue color bloom for only a short time in the Appalachian spring. Then the entire plant disappears by mid-summer saving its strength to return again the next spring. Photo taken in Abingdon, Virginia.

Carmen... Glad you like it, they are some of my favorite flowers to photograph! Such a vivid blue color!
