Description
The birthplace of A.P. Carter was built in the mid-1800s and was originally located in Little Valley, which runs parallel to Poor Valley, Virginia A.P. Carter was a member of the famous country music trio, the Carter Family, which included A.P., Sara (his wife) and Maybelle Carter (Sara's Cousin), that first recorded at the "Bristol Sessions" in 1927. After moving it to the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, it was meticuously restored and dedicated in May 2004. Besides being the birthplace of A.P. Carter Cabin is open for visitors during the same hours of operation for the Carter Family Museum, primarily on Saturdays beginning at 6:00 PM.
