The walk across the top of this rock literally scared me to death when I was a kid. I was afraid of heights. Later, I found out that I was near-sighted. Once I was fitted with glasses my fear of heights went away. My wife and I used to take our own kids to Backbone Rock but I still remember the initial fear that this gave me. It is a beautiful area that I keep going back to in my old age!

It truly is a beautiful area! The first time that we climbed up on Backbone Rock I was surprised at the lack of guardrails. It is a great view from up there though!
