Description
Two Norfolk Southern SD40 locomotives take a slow pass by the old Norfolk and Western train depot in Abingdon, Virginia. The depot, built just after the Civil War, first served as the passenger depot for Abingdon and later as the freight depot when the "new" depot was built in 1911. It now houses The Arts Depot, an art gallery in downtown Abingdon, Virginia. The Norfolk Southern railroad main line still remains next to the old depots, thus plenty of train traffic runs by on a daily basis, but it is a rare to capture the train by the depot as they usually run by at 50 to 60 mph.
