Artist's Description

Edwin Mabry built this mill in 1910 and operated it until 1936, when the Blue Ridge Parkway was built nearby in Virginia (milepost 176.1). The National Park Service restored the mill in 1945 for the visitors to the Parkway. It is, perhaps, the most photographed site on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

This photo tied for 4th place in the fineartamerica.com contest "Why I Love Appalachia America" out of 362 images submitted in January 2023.
