Artist's Description
The color of Autumn highlights the Green Cove depot on the Virginia Creeper Trail. The Virginia Creeper Trail is a rails to trails 34 mile hiking / biking path on the former railbed of the Norfolk and Western Abingdon Branch. The Green Cove Station was made famous in an O. Winston Link photograph entitled, "Maud bows to the Virginia Creeper", captured in the late 1950s during the last days of steam locomotives. It is still used as a visitor center and rest stop on the Virginia Creeper Trail today.
