Artist's Description
The beautiful Natural Tunnel near Duffield, Virginia. Tracks were first laid in the Natural Tunnel in 1893 by the South Atlantic and Ohio Railroad to permit access to the coal fields. It is still an active line for Norfolk Southern Railroad in what has been called the 8th wonder of the world. The Natural Tunnel was created by a millenia of erosion in a limestone rift and is 850 feet long and 100 feet high.
