Description
The Gateway Arch is a 630-foot monument built to celebrate the westward expansion of the United States. Clad in stainless steel and built in the form of a weighted catenary arch,it is the world's tallest arch,the tallest man-made monument in the Western Hemisphere, and Missouri's tallest accessible building. The Arch, commonly referred to as "The Gateway to the West" is the centerpiece of Gateway Arch National Park and has become an internationally recognized symbol of St. Louis, as well as a popular tourist destination.
This photo won 1st place in a fineartamerica contest, "Missouri Photos Only" in March 2021 out of 295 images submitted.
"Reach for the Sky" tied for 3rd place in the fineartamerica contest "Weekly Challenge - Architecture" out of 145 images submitted in October 2022.

Christopher.... It is an architectural wonder! I was glad to capture the elegance of that stainless steel surface. I grew up in St. Louis and was a witness to the construction of the arch from the ground up. What an achievement! Thanks for the compliment!
