Autumn leaves highlight the Walnut Grove-Yeary Cabin in Abingdon, Virginia. This cabin is an authentic re-creation of an early Appalachian homestead. It features what was common to pioneer life in the late 1700s until the early 1900s. This village homestead is surrounded by split rail fencing of American Chestnut and includes two log cabins, an outdoor bread oven, a blacksmith shop, an outhouse, a portable grist mill, and horse-drawn farm equipment. Emmitt Yeary is the creator and owner of this "homestead".

I love this image. I grew up in a town called Walnut Grove, CA. We didn't have splendid scenes like this, but we had our share of old building and homes. This is an incredible capture.
Dale R Carlson replied:
Mary.... Thanks for the compliment! I loved the fallen leaves around the fence and those yet to fall from the tree. It was an amazing sight!
Jimmy Chuck Smith
awesome! it takes us back!
Dale R Carlson replied:
Hi Jimmy.... Yes it does and the cabin is just as impressive and authentic on the inside!
